Time to level up

Skills4Life is an outdoor adventure education residential designed to support young people with personal growth and soft skill development.

As featured in the Institute for Outdoor Learning's Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning.

Available across 11 amazing locations in the UK, from Devon to Northumberland, this experience is perfect for students, sports teams and youth groups of any kind.

Participants significantly increased their resilience and psychological well-being, by 36% and 23% respectively on completion of the programme.

The modules

Each day offers a new module that boosts social, emotional and problem-solving skills, which are then channeled into a final day of outdoor adventure.

Enterprise Challenge

Develop business-relevant skills and apply them to a project, working around marketing, product design, and budgeting based challenges before presenting final ideas.

Your Voice Matters

Participating in debate and dialogue around issues that matter to them and their local areas, allowing them the ability to adapt how they are perceived during public speaking as well as honing their abilities to listen and present ideas.

Food for Thought

Using a range of resilience-building bush craft skills, Food for Thought challenges young people to prepare and share a meal together. Each team will be given a budget and a selection of resources. Designed to challenge a broad range of skills, working together towards a valuable shared goal.

Epic Challenge - watch the video!

Taking place on the final full day of their adventure, the Epic Challenge sees the young people work in teams to compete against each other through various tasks to win points in their bid to become champions! A series of outdoor challenges are set out across the adventure centre, allowing the teams to bond and engage together as they tackle and harness the skills they have built throughout their trip.

An evaluation of the Winter 2002/2023 Skills4Life programme revealed the impact of the programme had significant positive impacts. This study was later published in the Institute for Outdoor Learning's Journal of Adventure Education and Outdoor Learning - read the full article online.

During the study, 622 diverse adolescents were accessed across three timepoints and the results showed real, lasting impacts.In addition to supercharging individuals' resilience and psychological wellbeing, participants reported increases in vital soft skills such as confidence, social intelligence, leadership, teamwork and communication.

Over 70% felt more able to cope with whatever life threw at them
Over 80% felt more confident about teamwork and communication
70% felt more confident about education or job prospects
80% felt more confident about meeting new people
Over 60% had more confidence in leading others
78% felt more positive about people from diverse backgrounds
75% felt more optimistic about their future

We can offer everything from buffets to working lunches, and even a bar service if required.

Are there opportunities for kids to develop higher education skills at your centre?

Yes, we offer Skills4Life programs and opportunities for older campers. These experiences help children build valuable skills and confidence.

Can we request specific accommodation?

You’re more than welcome to request the accommodation you would like, and we’ll do our best to prioritise it for you. However, we cannot 100% guarantee this, especially during busy seasons.

What should children pack?

We provide a full packing list to ensure everyone has what they need for a fun week.

Can I preview the centre prior to my visit?

We are always happy to accommodate a preview of our centres. Please contact the centre you’re visiting to arrange a suitable date and time with the customer service department. Call our team on 0800 655 6564.

We are holders of the LOtC quality badge. This means you can be assured that we have met with required standards around safety, activity provision and learning outcomes. The Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel endorses the LOtC Quality Badge and the majority of Local Authority Outdoor Education Advisers have indicated that they accept the award in place of some or all of their checks. You can view which Local Authority Outdoor Education Advisers support the LOtC Quality Badge by visiting the OEAP website here.

Our two closest outdoor activity centres to London are Grosvenor Hall in Kent and Green Park in Aylesbury.

You can make an application to the Hardship Fund for Kingswood to fully fund up to 2 in 10 young people from your group to attend where their trip is at risk due to financial difficulties.
